What you need to Know about Mommy Makeover Recovery
Mommy makeovers refer to some surgeries on the breast and on the tummy and in most of the cases, they include breast implants and tummy tuck or liposuction. A mommy makeover can be as simple as a scar revision after a c-section procedure while other might include a full breast reconstruction with a full tummy tuck.
Recovery after a mommy makeover is dependent upon a myriad of factors, including the age of the patient. Some patients are young and will bounce back quickly, while others are old and will require more time for full recovery. But that notwithstanding, adequate time is necessary for complete physical recovery following any major surgery like mommy makeover.
How much pain to expect after a mommy makeover
Post operative pain and discomfort are quite varied after mommy makeovers and these will depend on the specific procedure performed as well as its extensiveness. For instance, the pain experienced after a breast augmentation procedure or just a breast lift will be different with the pain experienced following a scar correction after a c-section procedure. Additionally, the amount of pain will also depend on the patient’s level of pain tolerance.
How long till you heal properly
Again, this will vary from one patient to another. The phases of recovery after mommy makeovers may however be categorized as follows:
- The first phase is 2 -3 hours immediately after the surgery for the patient to wake up from the anesthetic administered.
- Between 2 – 3 days when you will expect pain which will require pain medication on a set schedule or around the clock.
- 2 – 3 weeks to taper off the medication and start increasing physical activities
- 2 -3 months for full recovery and feel like yourself again
- Up to years for the scars to fully mature
How long before you return to work after a mommy makeover
If you work behind a desk, you will need between one and two weeks before you can resume work after a mommy makeover. But if your job involves strenuous activity or heavy lifting, then you may need up to five weeks.
